Medieval Verona

In the fourteenth century Verona became one of the biggest European capitals.

The city still preserves the medieval signs in houses and churches, towers and crenellated walls, lanes and arcades. The Medieval Castle with its majestic bridge gives the city a romantic appearance. We will visit places of commerce and power, to talk about corporations and knights, barbaric invasions, Guelphs and Ghibellines, Montagues and Capulets. Among court intrigues and murders we will travel into the Middle Ages from the Ostrogothic Kingdom to the Lordship of a local dynasty, to discover ancient systems of measurement, Verona customs and traditions as described in the medieval statutes. We will admire the Scaliger Palace that welcomed scholars like Dante, Boccaccio and Giotto, and, just infornt of it, the Skaliger Tombs were the three knights high in the sky, are considered among the first equestrian statues in Europe. The tour includes a visit to a medieval fabric store, the corn and fodder Old market, the apothecaries' court, the Old Maidish Inn. 

Note: I recommend to pay a visit to San Fermo church, which is two in one, a summarize of medieval features in art and architecture: Romanesque in the dark lower church and Gothic in the bright upper church. 

I also advise you to visit Castelvecchio, where, in addition to works of art, a charming wall walk along the crenellation in-between the towers will offer you a magnificent view.
